This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on afbsummit.org. The short version: we use one cookie, only in the members' and administrators' areas, and only to keep you signed in. We do not use cookies to track, profile or advertise to you.
No analytics. No advertising. No third-party tracking. This site runs no Google Analytics, no Google Tag Manager, no Facebook or LinkedIn pixel, and no session-recording or heat-mapping tools. Browsing the public pages of this website sets no cookies at all.
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. Cookies are commonly used to keep you logged in, remember preferences, or — on many sites, though not this one — to follow what you do across the web for advertising.
| Cookie | Purpose | When it is set | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| PHPSESSID | Keeps you signed in as you move between pages of the member portal or the AFBS administration area. Without it you would be logged out on every click. | Only when you log in to the member portal or admin area. It is not set by browsing the public site. | Until you close your browser or log out. |
| afbs_cookie_notice | Remembers that you have dismissed the cookie notice, so it does not reappear on every page. It stores nothing but the fact that you closed it. | Only if you dismiss the notice. | 12 months. |
Both are what the law calls strictly necessary cookies: they are required to provide a service you have asked for. Strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent, which is why this site shows you a short notice rather than a consent banner with accept-or-reject buttons. There is nothing here to reject.
A few things on our pages are loaded from other companies' servers. None of them set advertising cookies on this site, but when your browser fetches a file from another company it necessarily reveals your IP address to them. For completeness:
| Service | What it is used for | Sets cookies? |
|---|---|---|
| Google Fonts | The Manrope typeface the site is set in. | No cookies. Google receives your IP address when the font file is requested. |
| flagcdn.com | Country flag images on the Family Enterprise Conversations impact page. | No cookies. |
| Font Awesome / jQuery / Bootstrap (CDN) | Icons and standard website code libraries. | No cookies. |
| Zoom | Hosting the Family Enterprise Conversations webinars. Only relevant once you follow a joining link. | Governed by Zoom's own policies, on Zoom's site. |
| Payment provider | Taking payment for tickets and membership, on the provider's own secure pages. | Governed by the provider's own policies. |
Links to our social media profiles are ordinary links. We do not embed Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or YouTube widgets that would load their tracking code into our pages.
You can delete or block cookies through your browser settings — every major browser has a privacy or site-data section for this. Because the only cookies we set are strictly necessary ones, blocking them will not affect your browsing of the public site; it will only prevent you from staying signed in to the member portal.
If we ever add analytics or any non-essential cookie, we will update this page and introduce a proper consent banner that asks your permission before those cookies are set. We will not start tracking you quietly.
